SwimTrek is not currently running activity week in 2020

This trip is basically two holidays in one, as not only do you get the SwimTrek experience of open water swims and island hopping, but you get all the fun of a resort as we team up with expert activity holiday provider, Neilson.

Of course, swimming is the priority here (and there), and the beautiful coastal swims and nearby islands have to be seen to be believed, but pre and après swim, you'll be living it up like a celebrity at this stunning resort!

Your base will be the an idyllic retreat, and the biggest problem you'll encounter is deciding which activity to choose from - and with sailing, tennis, kayaking, water sports, volleyball, cycling, and a fully equipped gym and spa, you'll be spoilt for choice.

But this trip isn't just for you water babies - everyone is welcome to join in on this holiday, so bring your non-swimming friends, family, and colleagues, and we guarantee they'll thank you for it.

The Activity Week is a unique SwimTrek holiday in that children as young as 11 are able to join. Children aged 11 and 12 must be accompanied by an adult when joining the swims. If swimming is not their thing though, they just need to pay the standard Neilson package and can enjoy all the resort has to offer. There's even a Kids' Club so you can safely leave the little ones behind while you're living the life aquatic.

What's included?

  • Fully escorted sea swims with our qualified and experienced swim guides
  • 2 technique sessions featuring video analysis and feedback
  • Flights from Gatwick or Manchester and transfers (supplement applies from Manchester)
  • 7 nights of accommodation, based on twin share (single occupancy and sea view rooms are available for a little bit extra)

Day 1

On arrival to the resort you have time to settle into your room, explore the resort and start to choose your activities for the week. In the evening there will be a welcome meeting with your Neilson Rep and fellow swimmers.

Day 2

We hold an acclimatisation swim directly below the resort. This is an ideal way for you to get acclimatised to the water and conditions. Following this we hold a video analysis session in the hotel pool where our qualified and experienced coaches will video your stroke from above and below the water.

PM

Marine Life Caveat

In the event you are stung by jellyfish, in most cases you can normally carry on swimming. However, if you do have a problem, we can assess/treat the affected area immediately on the escort boat. If this area continues to cause discomfort and/or becomes infected during or after the tour, you should seek medical attention immediately explaining the nature of the cause. Please ensure you contact us prior to booking if you suffer from Anaphylaxis.

Weather Caveat

For obvious safety reasons we rely on decent weather conditions when carrying out any swims. As a consequence, open water swimming does require an inherent degree of on-trip flexibility, so required changes in the planned itinerary will not be uncommon and will undoubtedly add to the uniqueness of each tour.

Trip Information

Trip Structure

This trip is designed differently from SwimTrek's other itineraries. At the start of the week you will have a chance to sign up for as many or as few of the swims and coaching clinics as you like. This gives you the opportunity to also participate in a selection of Neilson activities as well. If you don't fancy joining in all ten sea swims why not choose our SwimTrek Light package, which gives you the option of selecting three swims from the timetable.

Practical Information

Equipment to bring along with you

In addition to “normal” daily clothes, you will need to bring the following:

  • Swimming Costume x 2
  • Swimming Googles x 2 - try to bring 1 clear lens and 1 tinted lens for different light conditions
  • Sweater/Fleece /Waterproof Jacket
  • Towel(s)
  • Sunhat and Sunglasses
  • Walking Sandals/Shoes
  • Small Daypack
  • Waterproof Suncream
  • Aqua Shoes/Sandals which you don't mind getting wet
  • Kit for other Neilson activities

Swim Hats, Flippers, Rashvests and Wetsuits and Water Bottles

Please note that SwimTrek will supply swim hats. We will have a limited supply/range of flippers, rashvests and wetsuits available on the trip, but we cannot guarantee sizes for all. If you have your own flippers, rashvest and wetsuit we would recommend you bring these with you in order to maximise your enjoyment of the trip. Please note that SwimTrek will provide water and electrolyte drinks in shared water bottles on your safety boat. If you prefer to use your own drink bottle, please feel free to bring one along.

If you think you would benefit from a wetsuit but don't want to commit to buying one outright you are now able to hire a wetsuit for £40 through the company Vigour Events. They will send the wetsuit directly to your door. For further information please click here.

Group Size

This trip has a maximum capacity of 16 swimming guests, with 2 swimming guides, a local boat pilot and 2 motorised boat escorts.

Who Can Swim?

More people than ever! Due to the nature of the trip, and the different booking options, this trip is not only suitable for anyone who would enjoy any other SwimTrek trip but also for those looking to add just a taste of guided swimming tours on to a family holiday. With a range of distances and the freedom to choose the number of swims during the week, this trip really does cater for everyone, from those established open water swimmers to the swimmer looking to spread their arms in the open water for the first time.

Uniquely this trip allows children from 11 years and older to join a SwimTrek swimming holiday for the first time. Any swimmers aged 11/12 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Visa regulations do change so please remember to check for the most up-to-date information www.evisa.gov.tr.

Vaccinations

There are no essential vaccination requirements for Turkey, but you should ensure that your immunity to tetanus and polio is up to date.

  • My family thoroughly enjoyed our trip especially as we could all swim together. The other activities offered by Neilson, such as volleyball, meant we had lots to do out of the water as well as in. Can't think of any faults/issues!

  • Sivota is a lovely location. The underwater scenery is intriguing with sandy shallows, caves and caverns and plunging rock faces to the ocean floor. The swims are varied sometimes with gentle swells sometimes mill pond smooth. All in all a satisfying, fun and pleasurable experience.

    Michael & Susan. 2014 - UK
  • I cannot fault anything on this trip- Sian and Ricky were professional to the core and encouraged my 13 year old so much to the point he is now thinking about swimming the channel (thanks Sian!!!). I felt safe at all times and my son was challenged without being over awe. I would recommend this trip for anyone with children who fancy having a go. We will be back!!
