Make the most of your free day to explore Costa Rica with a day excursion
With optional yoga and plenty of excursions on offer, this trip is well-suited for non swimming partners or friends
Most travellers headed for Costa Rica are carrying surfboards and yoga mats. You don’t want to forget your goggles either!
This small country in Central America is known for its rich biodiversity. It has coastlines washed by Caribbean and Pacific waters, as well as hidden caves, beaches and volcanoes. Sprawling jungles span a quarter of its size, protected as national parks and reserves – home to spider monkeys, sloths, toucans and colourful quetzal birds. The country’s commitment to environmental conservation is evident the moment you arrive.
The landscape is shaped by highlands that shoulder active volcanoes, like Arenal, Irazu, Rincon de la Vieja and Turrialba. We will be based on Costa Rica’s ‘Gold Coast’ in a north-western region called Guanacaste. So, you will be close to some of the country's best-loved beaches, such as Tamarindo, Playa Conchal, and Playa Hermosa. Our hotel sits right at the heart of all the untamed, coastal beauty.
Of course, we will be spending plenty of time in the water as well. Beyond the glorious surf, there are riches to discover both above and below the sea. Combine morning and afternoon yoga sessions with exciting swims to pristine islands, like reef-fringed Montosa and Islas Pelonas.

Who is this trip for?
This trip is designed for swimmers and yoga enthusiasts who want to enjoy Costa Rica or who want to explore the benefits of yoga. We swim twice per day and our swims are shorter than an average SwimTrek trip. The package can include up to twelve optional yoga sessions and an opportunity to take a day excursion.
Swimmers do not require open water experience but should be capable of completing the average swim distance and average daily swim distance (over the course of two swims) prior to the start of the trip. The average swim distance is around 1½km. The average daily swim distance is around 3km.
If you choose to join in with the yoga sessions on offer, this is available to swimmers and their non swimming family of friends and no prior experience is required.
We have given this trip a ‘Leisurely’ grading designed for people who want to swim at a more relaxed pace and enjoy the scenery.
